How to Achieve Good Google Ranking in Luxembourg?

Discover how Takaneo went from thirty-sixth to first place in one year!

In one year, Takaneo made major progress on Google. The agency experienced impressive growth on Google, moving from 36th to 1st place for keywords such as: ‘communication agency Luxembourg’, ‘web agency’, ‘event agency’.

Our agency adopted a structured approach to improve our site’s visibility on Google. We combined technical adjustments, engaging content, and an effective netlinking strategy, which allowed us to increase its visibility and strengthen its credibility.

These efforts led to a significant increase in organic traffic, which now accounts for 62% of total traffic. They also helped attract qualified leads, resulting in over 20 leads (including 4 major signed projects) in 2024.

These insights allowed us to write this article, in which you will discover how to rank well on Google in Luxembourg.

1. A Difficult Starting Point

In January 2024, a thorough audit of the Takaneo website revealed several major obstacles. While physical netlinking generated some traffic, the previous SEO strategy did not attract enough new visitors or engage them long-term:

  • Low Visibility: We noticed that our pages were poorly ranked for important searches. This included queries such as ‘web agency Luxembourg’ and ‘communication agency Luxembourg’. This limited visibility restricted our ability to attract a broader, qualified, and especially local audience.
  • Lack of Informative Content: Some of our pages lacked appeal. Furthermore, the absence of regular updates tended to make visitors and search engines lose interest.
  • Technical Weaknesses: Some website pages lacked proper adjustments for classic HTML tags in terms of structure and content. Additionally, some loading times sometimes exceeded 3 seconds for ‘First Contentful Paint’1, which affected user experience and SEO.

These obstacles limited the ability to attract a qualified audience and support digital growth.

1First Contentful Paint (FCP) is a metric used in SEO and web performance to indicate when the first visible content element appears on the user’s screen, showing that the page has started to load.

2. Key Actions Implemented

To improve our Google ranking, we began by strengthening our technical SEO. This is an essential step that we recommend to anyone looking to optimize their online visibility.

Technical Adjustments

We improved site performance by changing hosting providers. This resulted in a faster and more efficient website.

We also minified JS scripts, optimized caching, and removed duplicates from the media library. Thanks to these actions, the average web page loading speed decreased to 0.41 seconds.

Improved loading speed enhances user experience and SEO. Google favors fast websites, a key element of CORE WEB VITALS2 (which includes ‘responsive design’).

SEO Tags and Redirects

We adjusted HTML tags following Google’s best practices. For example, we limited title tags to 70 characters and added meta descriptions. Now, our web pages comply with these standards, which improves both their readability and their SEO.

Furthermore, 301 redirects pointed old URLs to relevant web pages. This helped avoid 404 errors, which negatively impact SEO.

2Core Web Vitals are a set of key metrics used to evaluate the quality of the user experience on a website. They measure loading speed, interactivity, and visual stability to ensure smooth and pleasant navigation.

Enriched Content

We strengthened our presence on social media and Google My Business. Additionally, quality and informative content was added to our website to better meet visitors’ expectations.

    • Expertise Pages: Articles cover topics related to communication in Luxembourg. They include news, informative content, and case studies. These attracted 4,200 unique users with an average session duration of 30 seconds over the last year.

  • Portfolio Pages: Presentations of completed projects, generating 1,639 unique users and strengthening the agency’s credibility.

The interfaces of Google Analytics and Google Search Console allow us to measure results. This content attracted qualified traffic, consisting of visitors seeking precise information. They also strengthened Takaneo’s position as a reference in several communication-related fields for both Google and visitors.

Furthermore, their regularity fostered better indexing, a key factor considered by search engines for SEO.

In conclusion, these efforts have paid off. We are now ranked for 68 keywords, 18% of which appear in the TOP 3 search results pages.

Netlinking Strategy

Another method used to improve SEO is netlinking:

  • Local Backlinks: In Luxembourg, networking plays a key role in SEO. Collaborating with media outlets like Paperjam or Adada strengthens our online visibility and SEO. These partnerships generate high-authority backlinks, which increases our credibility. Consequently, this also improves the ranking of related web pages on Google.
  • Backlinks Related to Takaneo Projects: Submitting our projects to recognized platforms like Awwwards helps us obtain quality backlinks. These links from authoritative sites strengthen our online authority and improve our SEO. By increasing our visibility for strategic queries, these actions support our organic search ranking.

Furthermore, being present in these specialized directories highlights our expertise and builds credibility for our know-how with a targeted audience.

Ultimately, 3,312 backlinks were acquired in one year, significantly improving visibility and ranking.

Conclusion

To achieve visibility in search results, Takaneo combined several approaches. This included technical adjustments, targeted content, and an effective netlinking strategy.

Today, the agency ranks among the leaders in its field in Luxembourg. It attracts qualified traffic and sustainably supports its digital growth—an exemplary transformation that illustrates the importance of a well-thought-out SEO strategy.

3Direct traffic refers to visitors who access a website directly, without going through a search engine, an external link, or a campaign. This includes users who type the URL directly into their browser or use a bookmark to access the site.

4Referral traffic represents visitors coming from other websites via external links (backlinks). For example, if a user clicks on a link to your site from a blog post or online media, this generates referral traffic. It is a key indicator in a netlinking strategy.

5An event corresponds to a specific user interaction with a site element, tracked via a tool like Google Analytics. For example: a button click, a file download, or a video playback. These interactions measure visitors’ engagement and interest in the site’s content.

6SERP stands for ‘Search Engine Results Page’, which is the page displaying search results on a search engine.
